Sveti Jurag to somewhere in Croatia.

I have no idea of the name of the town we are staying at tonight, hence the title of my update.

The apartment we stayed at last night should be nuked.  No air con so we sweated all night even with our front door and doors to the balcony open.  We had no wind to cool the room down or a fan to dry the sweat from our bodies.  It was another terrible night's sleep on tour. At least I had the double bed and Peter had the single one.  Dinner was down on the waterfront watching the holiday makers swimming to all hours of the evening.  I do wander whether I was like the children I saw today loving the water with their parents.
The above photo is of the small harbour of Sveti Jurag where we stayed last night.
The first part of today's ride was another climb.  This one was 13kms from bottom to top with a altitude gain of 398 metres.  The good thing about the climb was the gentle gradient and the sun had not risen above the mountain range we were being protected by.  The temperature was perfect to go climbing and we were doing it in style, even for elderly sportsmen like ourselves.

We came across an Italian couple who were riding to the harbour to catch the ferry to the island of Pag.  It's important to get the pronunciation right and I'll explain this later.  We had thought about going to Pag but decided to stay on the main road because the traffic had decreased and we were enjoying the riding along the coastline.  After the huge climb in the morning we continued over the rolling hills until lunch.  The weather at midday was hovering over 40 degrees.
The photo above is of one of the tunnels we had to enter on the ride.  I hate going into these as the cars and trucks have great difficulties trying to see us.
The photo above is one of the many villages we rode through today.
We continued on after lunch trying to knock over 100kms in intense heat. The above photo was taken by Peter whilst riding the roads with very little traffic.  We rolled on into another town and decided to go and see if we could get a campsite for the night.  Unfortunately there was no room at the inn.  We asked if we could go for a swim to cool off and to take a much needed break.  On with the boardies and into the Adriatic.  It was so soothing I just laid there for 1/2 and hour. It was time to put the cycling gear back on and continue riding south to our final destination.  We had no idea where we'd end up today and that is where we're staying.  It's called, 'I have no idea'.
No sooner had we got back on the road and we came across a group of South Africans who had ridden from Portugal to somewhere in Croatia.  They had travelled 2900kms and we have ridden 2800kms. The mandatory photo shoot, handshakes and well wishes were exchanged and we were on our way.

The rest of the day was pretty hard with the temp now getting into 45 degrees.  We had the wind on our backs and we had finished climbing for the day.  We found a nice campsite and Peter checked it out.  Instead of camping in the sun with no shade, Peter organised an air con room for about 50 Aussie dollars between us.  And it has wifi and air con.

With a nice meal it was time to retire to the comfort of an air conditioned room and crash.  I really need a good night's sleep.  As far as tomorrow is concerned, we have no idea as long as we're on the bikes.

Until tomorrow, safe riding.
