Dubrovnik.

Today was a nice easy ride into the famous city of Dubrovnik, Croatia.  I've always wanted to visit the city after seeing some of the photos my friend showed me many years ago.  I suppose there's no better way to reach Dubrovnik than doing it on a bike.

Like usual the road today was narrow, full of cars and buses and more hills.  The ride was around 40kms and the only breaks we took were to gaze into the Adriatic and for a drink.  As we approached the outskirts of Dubrovnik we stopped just before riding over the huge bridge linking the city with the mainland. The views each day are just incredible and this one was even better than the last view.
The photo above was taken before we turned off the highway and dropped down into the city of Dubrovnik.  The ship in the harbour takes passengers to Italy, Greece and up and down the Croatian coast.

We had intended to stay about 13kms away from Dubrovnik at Zaton Resort, but we couldn't find it on the run into town.  We just kept going and headed for camping Solitude which I had found earlier on during our research as to where we might stay in Dubrovnik.  The campsite is excellent with good amenities and an excellent beach with all the attractions one could possibly want.

The photo below is from the beach at our campsite looking back to the bridge we hd to cross.
The rest of the afternoon was spent sitting around our campsite/home for the next 2 nights,  and just relaxing.  Tomorrow is a rest day which will be spent walking the majestic city of Dubrovnik.

To Dennis our good cycling friend from eXsight Tandems, I hope you're on the mend and out of Wollongong Hospital.  I'm looking forward to you buying me a coffee upon my return to the mighty GONG.

Until tomorrow, safe riding..
