Camping Stobrec to Camping Viter, Zaostrog.

We both had a good sleep last night and still were feeling tired.  Perhaps we might need more than 1 day to rest up. We packed up our homes, ride up to the shop and bought some milk and yogurt for breakfast.  The reception office didn't open until 8am so we had to wait a while and this caused us to start the ride south around 8.30am.  We were in no rush today and planned a 80km ride, as all along the Dalmatian coast is up and down and will be hard work.  There's no way of avoiding climbs all day.

The first town we rode through was called Omis, and it was a stunning little village with a fortress looking down over the harbour. We rolled along and stopped for a drink and this is where Peter met this Australian women who now lives in Omis with her Croatian husband.  She invited us back to her place to stay but unfortunately it was too early in the day and we needed to continue.  If it had been around 2pm, we would have jumped at the opportunity.  I'd never say NO to free accommodation.  Whilst Peter was talking to the lady I though I'd take a photo of the submarine in the harbour.  We didn't go for spin as the price was too high for us.  It was time to cycle on to the town of Makarska for lunch.
As we rode along the coast I'm constantly in awe of how beautiful the scenery is.  We would climb a mountain and gaze down into the crystal clear waters with bathers abound and then roar down the other side to see the swimmers up close and personal.  I could  never get bored riding in this part of the world.
I noticed this sign during one of our coffee stops today.
The photo above shows how many tourists hang at the beach each day.  The beach just outside our campsite is packed to the rafters.  When we arrived at camp around 3.30pm there was no way we could lay a towel down if we wanted to.  There was no room left on the beach to play beached whales. We found a place to put our towel down in a pile and jumped in for a swim.  The water was so refreshing and a great way to recover after another long day in the saddle.
The photo above shows the road making it's way up into the mountain.  Another long climb, at least the weather was slightly cooler.
Whilst we were eating dinner tonight I saw a Dalmatian dog which had to be photographed.

Today was a great day on the bike which saw us ride 90kms, up some big climbs whilst skirting the Croatian coastline.  There wasn't a cloud to be seen and we were doing what we do best, ride our bikes.

Tomorrow we have an 80km ride to somewhere.

Until tomorrow, safe riding.
