Had to pull the pin on the day.

We both had good intentions of riding 70kms today but during breakfast it was clear Peter was not over that virus and decided he couldn't rain today.  We had packed our bags and were dressed in our lycra and ready to ride but it was a wise decision to pull the pin on the day. I had mentioned to Peter that if we're staying he had to go and see a doctor and get a check up.

We went back upstairs and told the motel staff we were staying another night, got out of our lyrca and walked down the road to the hospital.  It was clear during breakfast that Peter was not well, but he's a determined man, and more determined to ride that bike.  Seems like we have something in common after all.

We walked down the road to the hospital, booked in to see a doctor and waited.  Peter was eventually called to see the female doctor and then came out of her room and then walked down the hallway with a nurse carrying a drip.  It was diagnosed that Peter has a virus and was dehydrated.  Now I'm no doctor, but Peter and I already new that was the problem, all he wanted was drugs to harden him up a bit, so to speak.

The photo above is Peter on the hospital bed receiving some good medicine.  Eventually he was released with a couple of prescriptions and instructions to take it easy. I wish I was there when the doctor said that, I would have told her that she was speaking to a elite elderly sportsman who knows how to look after himself.  I didn't get the chance to say anything as I was still outside sitting under the tree with the other patients telling them about our journey.

With prescriptions prescribed, it was back to the motel for some rest and recovery.  On our way back to the room I thought I would take a photo (see below) of the buses they use in the capital of Macedonia.  The buses are in fact made by the Chinese and not the British as was the case in the past.
So as to what will happen tomorrow, I have no idea.  We still have plenty of time up our sleeve to reach Athens by the 23 September, so there's no need to rush or bus at this stage.

Until tomorrow, safe riding.
